Rascals ride out on the Guildford TCR Parade Laps with Joanna Rowsell July 2013
The Charlotteville Rascals are Charlotteville Cycling Club's own coaching squad for junior riders aged between 6 and 16.
Due to the popularity of the Rascals coaching there is now a waiting list, so please contact
to register an interest if you would like your child to take part.
Rascals coaching take place in two locations Goldsworth Park, Woking and George Abbot Secondary School, Guildford. Coaching alternates between these two locations on Saturday mornings. Coaching is carried out in two sessions split by ability. This is to maintain the safety of the children and ensure there are an adequate number of coaches available for each session.
When your child attends please remember you will need to bring: bike, helmet, drinks, snacks, eye protection, mitts, suitable clothing and preferably a spare inner tube to coaching sessions.
We recommend that riders do not use bikes with road tyres.
A timetable of forthcoming coaching sessions is below. For a comprehensive list of events please see the full Rascals Calendar.

To receive coaching with the Rascals, your child will need a bike in good working order (sorry, no bikes with road tyres), a helmet, clothing with no flappy parts on the lower leg that can get snagged by the chain/pedals, mitts (preferably) to protect their hands, a parental consent form (available on the day). If attending the sessions at Goldsworth Park please ensure that your child has protective eyewear too.
Costs for the session are as follows: Go-Ride Club Members would need to join British Cycling with affiliation to Charlotteville and then they would pay £1 per Go-Ride coaching session (£3 on Go-Ride race days). For that the Rascal member would also automatically become a Charlotteville CC member without any further subscription being paid. Non-members or British Cycling members affiliated to other clubs will pay £3 per Go-Ride coaching session.
By meeting and riding in a space that is free from traffic, we offer kids the chance to work on bike handling skills which can be used in the future.
The Rascals are run by Kerry Bircher, Jon Fox, Jon Goodge, Ian Haller, Jon Jarrett, Jon Lewis, Patrick Lonergan, Ian Portsmouth and Rex Shorey who are all British Cycling Level 2 coaches and assisted by other trainee coaches and volunteers. Keith Reed who is the British Cycling Go Ride coach for Woking and Guildford is also involved with the club.
