Club Nights
| Club Nights are regular events that give members and non-members the opportunity to get together over a few drinks (alcoholic or otherwise!) and chat about all things cycling. Our Club Nights are held from 8pm to around 11pm on the first and third Fridays of the month at the Remnants Cricket Club, Woking (map). The Clubhouse is warm and friendly and has a well-stocked bar. If you're thinking of joining the Charlotteville CC and want to find out more about the Club from some of its members then come along to one of our Club Nights. |
Sunday Morning Club Runs
We organise weekly rides (Club Runs) every Sunday morning that cover many of the scenic and undulating roads around Surrey and the surrounding counties. As with our Club Nights (see above), our Club Runs are open to all and are a great way for prospective members to get a feel for the Club before joining up. Novice riders should note that we organise regular Beginners Rides that are shorter in distance and slower in pace than our regular Club Runs; generally these are held on the first Sunday of the month. Our Club Runs depart from the car park at the Spectrum Leisure Centre in Guildford (map) at 09:00hrs.
For more details please see our new 'club run' section of the website from the left hand menu

Competitive Events
The Charlotteville CC promotes a full calendar of competitive events every season, from the Club Hilly in mid-March through to the Club Hill Climb at the beginning of October and including our season-long Evening 10 mile TT series, Open time trials at 10 and 50 miles and the spectacular Guildford Town Centre Road Races. The club also fulfils its obligations to help organise two Surrey League Road Races each year too. With a few notable exceptions, our events are held in the Pirbright area (map). Our forthcoming competitive events are listed in the table below. Most of our Club events are open to all and our Evening 10s in particular are a good place to start if you're a novice rider or would like to get a feel for the Club before joining up. Asterisks indicate special entry conditions. For a full listing of events including course descriptions and details of how to enter please refer to our Racing Calendar.
Please note that for all Evening 10's this year the use of a rear light is mandatory (and you will not be able to start unless you have one). Spare lights will be available for purchase on the line in case you forget yours but we want to ensure your safety both on the course and also to and from the event.

Committee Meetings
Committee Meetings are now being held monthly as part of a club night (usually the first club night of the month but has recently been the third friday of the month). Therefore they are held at the Remnants Cricket Club, Old Woking (map) starting at 8pm. Meetings can be attended by any Club member, regardless of whether or not they hold a position on the Club's Committee.

Sociable Rides
There is a standing invitation to Club members to join the CTC West Surrey DA on their rides. The Hardriders (over 70 miles) are more likely to interest Charlotteville members, but there are intermediate (about 60 miles) and Junior rides. Contact Harold Coleman for further details. There is also an informal Monday Group, a number of cyclists in the area who meet on a Monday at various locations at 10.30am for 11am, for a leisurely amble to a pub for lunch and back (mileage about 20 unless more serious miles are ridden to and from the start and finish). Contact Albert Welvaert or Bill Squirell for details.
